1284 Communications will support Charnwood Community Heroes for the third successive year.

It comes as Charnwood Borough Council - which organises the annual celebration of local champions and volunteers - marks its 50th anniversary.

1284 first began supporting the event in 2022 as it sponsored the Business Community Action category.

Finalists were celebrated with a presentation event at Burleigh Court on the Loughborough University campus.

1284 returned in 2023 to sponsor the Board Member & Trustee category, which was marked by afternoon tea at John Storer House in Loughborough.

Celebrating Charnwood volunteers

Charnwood Borough Council will mark its 50th anniversary this year by adding a new category to the awards.

The new category aims to recognise and celebrate the people in Charnwood that continue to make an outstanding contribution in the borough.

This initiative highlights the importance of community and appreciation for those who go the extra mile for others.

In total there will be six categories for 2024:

• Outstanding Contribution
• Young Hero (sponsored by Serco)
• Inspiring Others (sponsored by Idverde)
• Green Hero (sponsored by Serco)
• Beyond the Call of Duty
• Brilliant Board Member / Trustee (sponsored by 1284)

1284 remains committed to supporting the Charnwood Community Heroes awards.

Each category highlights the diverse ways in which individuals contribute to the community, whether through environmental initiatives, inspiring leadership, or exceptional volunteer work.

1284 Managing Ditrector George Oliver said: "We live and work in Charnwood and want to recognise the local people who make it what it is.

"Our offices are in Loughborough and we want to back the borough council in promoting why it is such a good place to do business."

The 2024 Charnwood Community Heroes awards ceremony will take place on 28 September 2024 at Burleigh Court.

This event will bring together community members to celebrate the dedication and hard work of local heroes.
