1284 Communications has marked its fourth year in business - celebrating with clients and colleagues at the Manor House in Quorn.

Founded on 20 July 2020, 1284 has gone on to win regional and national industry recognition for its work on East Midlands innovation.

It specialises in raising the strategic communication of high-growth and mid-corp businesses in the region.

And it also works with a number of local authorities, charities, and social enterprises as part of its interest in regional economic development.

Outcomes have not gone unnoticed. Most recently, 1284 was shortlisted for PRCA Midlands Small Consultancy of the Year and UK Specialist Consultancy of the Year.

Meanwhile, 1284 gained Good Business Charter accreditation earlier this year. GBC recognises commitment to fairness, transparency, and responsibility in all business.

1284 became one of only 67 East Midlands businesses to achieve the status.

Over the last 18 months, 1284 has expanded to four PR and marketing professionals.

Each team member brings particular skills and perspectives, fostering a collaborative environment and driving further success.

1284 was founded by former Leicester Mercury Editor George Oliver in 2020 as he completed his Master's at Loughborough Business School.

It has since operated from Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park and will move into larger office space there in August.

Its purpose throughout has been to promote local authority, high growth, and mid-corp innovation in the East Midlands.

By using efficient and targeted B2B and G2B strategic communications, 1284 builds clients’ profile, effectiveness, networks, and productivity.

George said: “The first four years have gone by fast but we have learned there is a good regional market for what we do and we have grown accordingly.

"We are doubling in size each year and we now have a strategy to accelerate what we do through to 2030."

1284 uses purposeful and authentic communications to develop good ideas through change.

Its monthly 1284 newsletter keeps hundreds of East Midlands business leaders informed about regional media and comms.
