90 business leaders gathered to learn more about progress on the £40m Loughborough Town Deal programme.

Eleven projects are either complete or well underway to boost skills in the area, regenerate the town, and support the local visitor economy.

The project is supported by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

And 1284 was commissioned by Charnwood Borough Council to help develop a business briefing to communicate progress made to date.

Andy Reed OBE, vice-chair of the Town Deal Board and the town's former Member of Parliament, introduced the event.

He was supported by the Minister for Enterprise, Markets and Small Business, Kevin Hollinrake, who joined the event virtually to talk about his own experiences of business and what the Government is doing for small businesses.

Loughborough MP Jane Hunt spoke with guests, while Professor Chris Rielly, of Loughborough University, spoke on the ongoing Healthy and Innovative Loughborough project.

That includes Sport Park Pavilion 4, officially opened in October and the venue for the event itself.

Dr Chrissie Van Mierlo, Museum Director at Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust, updated guests on what’s been happening with the project to preserve its historic site.

Communicating Loughborough

As a Loughborough business itself, 1284 was pleased to again work with Charnwood Borough Council on organising the business briefing.

We supported the local authority with:

  • Communications around event planning
  • Public relations and press releases updating on Town Deal
  • Organising stakeholder events and compiling guest lists
  • Business and political stakeholder work
  • Copywriting for banners and leaflets
  • Liaison over design and venue.
